I’ve always contended that there are more CAM software tools than there are CAD tools… Research organization, CIMdata, has shared the results from their recent study of the Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) marketplace.   While the major PLM vendors, Dassault and Siemens, lead the market with 15% and 13% respectively, the marketplace is really fractured.  In fact, a full 33% of the market belongs to products/companies that are not in the top 10.

Will there be a natural consolidation in the marketplace?   Will the major PLM vendors start buying up some of the niche CAM companies?
