While additive manufacturing (AM) of metal parts is growing in acceptance, it often requires requalification of the parts when used in aerospace & defense applications.  This presents a major challenge in cost and lead time for small quantities of replacement parts for legacy systems.  As a result, the Renaissance approach leverages AM primarily to avoid traditional tooling costs as well as providing a path to efficiently make a small quantity of parts.  Renaissance uses various sources of AM tooling for the rapid production of castings, ranging from airfoils to housings.
