Everyone appears to be jumping on the “cloud” bandwagon — that is, using Internet hosting services for storing data and running applications.  The question people are avoiding right now is just how safe is the cloud for your business?

While I am a frequent user of the web for consumer purchases, I almost always avoid storing credit card info with the vendor (their databases are frequently hacked).  Some of the well known cloud services, such as Dropbox have recently changed their terms & conditions that make it even dicier to store your data with them (they claim royalty free use of your data).

When considering the cloud for running your business, it’s caveat emptor.
