This is certainly an interesting development… It appears that the CAD 3D format used in Adobe Acrobat Professional (known as PRC – Product Representation Compact) is being submitted for consideration as an international standard.
For those of you not aware, Adobe purchased a French company, TTF, that developed PRC as a means of displaying 3D models from CATIA, Pro/E, NX, etc. Adobe subsequently made PRC an integral part of the Acrobat mission.
Making PRC a standard could really start to rock the world and make PDF even more important in the business world…
